Sudden geological changes or extreme weather conditions can affect Earth’s surface

• investigating major geological events such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and tsunamis in Australia, the Asia region and throughout the world
• recognising that earthquakes can cause tsunamis
• describing how people measure significant geological events
• exploring ways that scientific understanding can assist in natural disaster management to minimise both long- and short-term effects
• considering the effect of drought on living and non-living aspects of the environment

Task 1: Brainstorm

1. Create a list of words under the heading Earth and Space Science. (At least 20 words) 
2. Use this word list to create a Wordle (Word Cloud) (remember the more words you have the better your Wordle will be!)
3. Use your Wordle as a front cover of your Keynote for this unit of work.

Task 2: Create a Proposal Movie

Use iMovie to create your own 'Introduction to Earth Space Science' film. The music should be EPIC! You need use a mixture of video and still images

Choose a Natural Disaster. All year 6s will choose a different one. Create a vocabulary list for your chosen Natural Disaster.  Make a Quizlet based on your Vocabulary List to share with the class.

Create a mindnode to show the impact a drought has on living and non-living aspects of the environment. Causes of a Drought, characteristics of drought and detailed information regarding a specific drought and its impact on the  environment.

Task 5:
Use the information from your Mindnode to Plan a  research essay about 'Droughts'. You can get the planning sheet pictured left from me)
*Your introduction should included a general overview of natural disasters in general.

Task 6:
​Use your research plan & Pages to type up a report on droughts using the format we have used in class. (5 paragraph essay)
